First Spring... Prada begins a new decade

'First Spring' is the latest collaboration between Prada and Chinese artist, Yang Fudong. The venture has spawned a black and white dreamscape, directed by Fudong, that features young men in Shanghai dressed in Prada menswear in a world where up is down and down is up... hence, anything is possible!

The film is inspired by the Chinese saying that 'the whole year's work depends on a good start in spring.' The evocative story is a beautifully crafted visual metaphor for Prada's new universe of visual communication for the new decade.

The film was rather stimulating for me because those of you that have been following my writing know that I have been on a quest to create a new dynamic that creates a mergence of style and story. My idea is to create a world where the clothing is at the center of a story that is at once alluring and provocative, thus effectively allowing the reader/shopper to be entertained while gaining a further appreciation for the garments potential. This film 'touches' upon the ideas that I would like to further explore in my quest to unite story and fashion, so magazine editors, fashion designers, let's collaborate!
