Ah, Amber...

A picture in a frame.

Fashion, your cure for the recession...

If you're in the NY this weekend, and willing to brave the weather, Housing Works annual Spring Previews just may be the fashionista's cure for the recession. The organization has just re-stocked their thrift shops on the heels of Fashion Week, so if you're anything like me, you're probably thinking about the deficiencies in your spring wardrobe.

The group gets donations from a-list designers and then sale the items in their thrift stores for up to 80% off retail with the proceeds going to help the homeless. In addition, the group even has humanitarian efforts in Haiti. Details on the click.

By the way... did I mention that lines usually stretch around the block for this event, so we suggest fashionably early will be a good look! After all... life is good, but living is better!

Young lion... Sewn From the Soul

The fellas over at Street Etiquette have put together an outstanding campaign titled, Sewn From The Soul, to pay homage to some of our champions in African American History. The young lion featured in the campaign really struck me, so I want to give a big up to the cats over at Street Etiquette for keeping the torch lit.. Style is such a personal thing, and when you see young guys reaching out to the shorties... it just keeps the progression steady.

This little piggy...

We've all heard stories of the pros and cons of eating pork, well at MIO restaurant, which features an array of urban Latin American cuisine of metropolises like Mexico City, Lima, and San Juan to name a few, the other white meat is a staple. My good friend and business associate, Manuel Iguina, is the proprietor, and most gracious host of the establishment. Earlier this week Manuel gave my good friend Derrick and I an up close and personal look at a whole pig that was prepared for an event that evening.

Now whether you eat pork or not, I think we can all agree that this is one of the many facets of the good life. There's nothing better that sitting down in a nice establishment to dine, and unwind with friends, or business associates. MIO's is one of my "go to" spots for a nice meal or an even better atmosphere; after all, life is good, but living is better! In the picture that follows, Robert Quarles, one of the chefs at MIO, stands at the ready to carve up the pig.

MIO is open daily for lunch and dinner, and weekend dining on Saturdays. For more information call (202) 955-0075, or click here.

Mr. West, all in for "Coldest Winter"

Rapper/ fashion icon Kanye West has said, and done many controversial things, over the past couple of years, but this time he's really done it.  He hit this one on the head when he said, coldest winter, especially for the east coast set as we are finally emerging from our record snowfall. Here's a look at his latest video, aptly titled, "Coldest Winter."

Coldest Winter probably meant one thing for Kanye, but for me... I'll deem it an ode to Spring, after all... life is good, but living is better!
